CBS has a few shows I am interested in checking out this fall. So let’s start on Monday nights:
at 8:00 we have “How I Met Your Mother” this is the last season so maybe we finally meet mom, fingers crossed. I have enjoyed this series for many seasons and who doesn’t love Barney Stinson, character high-five. To allow this show to go beyond this season would be a mistake, in my opinion. As much as I enjoy the show the characters have clearly moved beyond this point in their lives. It is time to call this one.
At 9:00 we have “Mom”. How can this not be funny? Alison Janney is awesome! I think she is very funny and I think her character here is one that most of generation X will recognize as the new Mrs. Cleaver. Add in well-known comedic actress Anna Faris and this should be terrific!
We fast forward to Wednesday at 9:00 to find what is happening at the BAU this season on Criminal Minds. This show could continue on indefinitely, not unlike law and order. I have loved this from the start. The cast is terrific, the acting is top-notch, and the stories force you to double check your locks and look under your bed afterwards. I cannot wait to see what horrors await me this season.
Thursday nights have always, and for me, will always be about the comedies. I will be starting my night with “Big Bang Theory”. This show has really hit its stride and I think we can squeeze two maybe three more seasons out of it. The quirky interactions of our crew as well as their interactions with those lovely ladies who love them keep me coming back for more. The writing and acting are some of the best on television. And Dr. Sheldon Copper played superbly by Jim Parsons would be at home on any of the classic sitcoms for the 1970’s or 80’s. Sheldon reveals more with a look than most actors do in an entire monologue.
Now that I am older I am home watching TV on Friday nights, like when I was younger and could not yet drive. For me Fridays have always been action drama territory. CBS is trying to recapture this feel with putting Hawaii 5-0 on at 9:00. When this show debuted three years ago I was nervous. I was scratching my head wondering why we needed to update this classic. Now I am glad that we have. I look forward to the back and forth of the old married couple of McGaret and Dano.
Following Hawaii 5-0 is the drinkenest cop family on TV ever.Blue Bloods not only is able to hit all the procedural cop show needs but manages to work in the family dram as well. Seriously how many of you would not want to make Sunday dinner at the Reagan house. I really hope they crank everything up this year. Tom Selleck has not played a role this cool since Magnum. You really feel as though this family cares not only about each other but about their community and their city.
