Gone Too Soon

This is a list of shows I feel were cancelled far before their time. No ratings or whatever the reason. Sometimes you got to spend a little up front to reap the rewards on the back-end. These shows were never given the room to grow that they needed.

Firefly: I know I was late to the party on this one only having watched it in the last year or so. That being said what a great show! Excellent stories great acting and you really feel a part of the crew. I find myself wondering where these characters would have been in season 3. at its heart this is a western; a western set in the final frontier. If you have not yet seen this or even if you have seen it go and watch it.

Fastlane: This show was on right after firefly, still wondering how I wasn’t watching firefly and I was hooked from the beginning. This could have, rather should have been, the next Miami Vice. Young cops working deep cover in L.A.’s seedy underground to stem the tide of drugs guns and in a stroke of casting genius Robert Forster plays Van’s dad. it just don’t get better.  It had everything story cast and flash. It left far too soon with only a single season. I watch it on DVD every couple of years, and once I start I can’t stop till it’s done.terminator_the_sarah_connor_chronicles05Sarah Connor Chronicles: I loved loved loved this one. The idea of taking an in-depth look at the years between the movies and judgment day was ingenious. Watching this teen who, when most want nothing to do with anything, must go on to be the savior of humanity was probably one of the brilliant ideas on TV. The cast was super the stories were excellent and the ending of season two, sending john to the post judgment day world, leaves wondering what was next.

FreaksAndGeeks2

Freaks and Geeks: this show deserved more than the single season it received. This was must see TV. I planned my Fridays around seeing this masterpiece. This is Judd Apatow at his best. The cast? Well you know almost all of them now. They have all gone on to great things Seth Rogen Jason Segel and James Franco just to name three. This show was awesome and I would have loved to watch this cast go through college and post high school.

GALERIEJericho: This is the story of what happens when money mixes with art. The cast was too big, read too expensive, so the networks decided to tinker with what was a perfect show. Just far enough from September 11th to allow us to look at the reality of a possible rebuilding of America without being preachy this could have most certainly been a great one. The idea of a small town cut off from everyone and only relying on themselves was awesome. This show was the post-apocalyptic guide to survival of the whole long before everybody jumped on the Mayan Calendar band wagon.  Season one was excellent everything that followed was the networks trying to force a show that required a slow play. This is another one I go back to every couple of years and relive all the way through.
