I can hardly wait: NBC’s returning shows

NBCUniversal Logos

It’s like a returning friend to catch me up on their adventures since last we saw one another. NBC has their returning line up and I have missed them. What is coming back that I watch:

blacklistBlack List: This show follows FBI agent Lizzie Keen as she works with Naval officer turned rogue arms dealer, and really criminal concierge, Raymond “Red” Redington to capture criminals no one even realizes exist. These are the bad guys that bad guys turn to for help in executing their specific crimes. The writing is superb on the show as well as the acting. James Spader plays to perfection the creepy and yet oddly all business Red. I really believe that Red is nothing more than Steff from pretty in pink all grown up, but I digress. Lizzie’s husband is working as a secret agent as well. Is he there to hurt or to protect? This has been very vague and seems to be leaning to hurt. I love this show it is one of my favorites from last season to return. I can’t wait to see who else is on the list and to hear more snarky comments delivered from Red. Mondays at 10:00 don’t miss it or you might just end up on the list.

chicaogChicago PD: this was a mid-season show coming in the spring of last year. It comes from the creator of Law and Order and is really a spin-off of Chicago Fire. This follows a group of detectives doing “intelligence” work for Chicago PD. The stories seem to balance half way between the crimes and the personal lives of the detectives. There is also the line of old school police work, which none of us wants to admit we don’t mind, coupled with today’s standards. The team works well in all the pairings I have seen. Working in partners or a large group these are the men and women you want kicking in the door to save you or a loved one. Find this one on Wednesdays at 10:00

e2bcaac77ebede7d97fe62b1aadf53fbGrimm: my entire reason for loving that I do not go out on Friday nights. This show takes a look at the Grimm Fairytales and the creatures with in. the catch? They are all apparently living in modern day Portland. Why would all those fairytale characters move to Portland? Not important. Many have and live amongst us and we are none the wiser. Detective Nick Burkhardt is a “Grimm” the mythical police that kept these”wessen”, monsters, inline back in Germany in the old days. How did they do that? By lopping off their heads of course. How does he do it today? By breaking all the wessen rules and working with the community to catch the bad guys as often as possible. And for extra fun his partner is a Blutbad, big bad wolf like as in little red riding hood. This show works because it does take itself seriously as we look almost farcically at the entire genre of fairytales as real life occurrences. I have seen photos of the new monsters at ew.com and they look creepier than ever. My 11 year old daughter just got caught up and can’t wait to see the new season. I am in too. This one airs Fridays at 9:00

That is what I watch on NBC. Did I miss one of your favorites? Let me know in the comments. As always vote for your favorite on the poll.
